Anger and love combine with mixed results. Between anger and love lives humanity, and if love of the other is an accepted condition of my kind, anger is close by. Love will give birth to anger when justice is denied to the one I love. In this space between anger and love, where humanity is, justice also must live. If the ones loved are denied justice, anger ignites in me. But with love, anger can be redemptive instead of violent. Love enables a calm and deep breath that is reproductive; it stops the demand for vengeance, reconciles enemies.
Lord, funnel my love towards peace, my anger towards redemption, and keep my hand from violence. Make me an instrument of your peace.
